I’ve experienced my fair share of trauma over the course of my life, and so have you. It seems that trauma is part of the human condition – a necessary part. First, what exactly is trauma? Basically, trauma is any type of emotional upset that leaves a lasting impact. From the small things to life’s bigger events, trauma effects each and every one of us in one way or another.
While the learning and clarity that trauma often brings about, these lessons are…well, traumatizing. They leave an imprint and without proper processing the wisdom and growth that trauma imparts is often overlooked. We are after all only human and it sometimes seems as if we’ve been given more than we can handle. Not so, you have the inner capacity to handle much more than you realize. In fact, I don’t believe the Universe ever gives us anything we can’t handle. It’s a matter of believing and knowing we can handle these things. Not only do we have the ability to handle the unimaginable or unexpected, we have the capacity to overcome, persevere and triumph in the face of adversity.
Yet, we’re still only human. So give yourself the freedom to struggle when necessary and triumph when desired. All the while remembering that somewhere within you have what it takes to come out the other side when the unthinkable takes place. You are infinitely able.
