Pandemic Transition

Support Services

In response to the current global pandemic, I've modified my services to support individuals and businesses as we navigate this new terrain.

Individual Transition Support

During these challenging times, my services will be delivered virtually via video or phone call.

This situation is hard and getting harder…

  • Are you putting on a brave face socially or professionally?

  • Are you struggling with the current circumstances?

  • Are you juggling more than you can or want to handle?

  • Are you coping in ways that you know don’t serve you?

  • Are you simply afraid of the unknown, of illness of loss?

You're not alone, everyone I know is experiencing some level of fear and trauma over the global events including the virus, economy, jobs, security, health, safety and more. It’s natural for ongoing trauma to lead to emotional struggles. The good news is you have within you the ability to successfully manage your struggles and fears - it’s all about support and strategy.

Your struggles don’t have to take over. You’re in charge of you!

I’m familiar with struggle, as I’m sure you are as well. It’s important to remember struggles are temporary, and thriving is permanent. The capacity to re-balance and take charge of what’s happening in your life is built in. What’s important is tapping into your inner strengths and power.

One of my clients, a front-line healthcare provider, summed up my approach perfectly. “Right now, I need all the strength I can muster. I need to fortify my best coping skills to make it through this current crisis. When the immediate crisis is over, then I’ll be ready to do the deep transformative work with you and your incredible Monarch Method.”

Now is the time to strengthen your mental and emotional foundation, to identify your best coping skills and put them to effective use. The time for diving deep and doing transformative personal work will come later, when you shift from surviving to thriving.

Due to current events, I’ve redesigned my services to create a new offering –

Corporate Transition Support

All services for teams and individuals will be delivered virtually via webinar, video/phone call and PDF documents.

The innate response to trauma (and post trauma) is not and does not result in a disorder. The trauma response is the natural mechanism for coping with unforeseen and disruptive circumstances. The trauma response has three primary stages: coping, transition, and thriving. Moving effectively and successfully through these 3 stages requires information, education and support. Each stage has its own set of characteristics - understanding and integrating the process for each stage is vital to a successful and productive outcome.

There is no one ‘right’ response. Each individual’s response is unique to them and it’s essential that each person’s process be supported and respected. At the same time, in order to cultivate the most effective and balanced response, expert education, guidance and support is beneficial and recommended.

You need to show up differently - as a leader, co-worker, caretaker, friend and individual - in each stage. You need to understand the process, make different decisions and take different actions in each stage. If not, you’re at risk of losing productivity, people and ultimately your bottom line.

As a leader, professionally and personally, you must communicate differently with those who are in another stage to you, in order to be supportive, effective and work towards your own and your company’s goals.

The model you will learn has 3 stages – Coping, Transition and Thriving. As a leader, it's essential you identify which stage you're in, which stage your business is in and which stage your team is in.

Not only do I know what your employees need emotionally, I have the skills and expertise to deliver results. An effective and sustainable trauma and post trauma response benefits from expertise, planning and methodology specific to trauma.

Format: There are 2 components to this service:

                                1. Team trauma education and leadership direction

                                2. Individual guidance and support

Team Education & Leadership Direction

The trauma response model you will learn has 3 stages: Coping, Transition, Thriving. Utilizing mediums such as webinars and video meetings, you and your team will receive education, training and guidance in the 3 stages.

The experience of trauma – emotionally, mentally, physically or spiritually – elicits a specific set of reactions and responses. While these are unique to each individual, the term most commonly used is ‘post traumatic stress disorder’. I don’t believe our natural responses to events, especially traumatic events – are necessarily ‘disorders’. Humans are specifically designed to establish coping mechanisms in order to survive traumatic events. This is normal, in fact this is vital. I refer to these reactions as Post Trauma Response.

The Post Trauma Response includes an array of reactions. Some of the most common are:

  • Anger and aggression (verbal and/or physical)

  • Withdrawal, emotional numbness and detachment

  • Feelings of shame, guilt, and worthlessness

  • Dissociation (losing time, blanking out, etc.)

  • Trouble managing emotions

  • Difficulty with impulse control

  • Triggering memories of past traumatic events

  • Engaging in self-harm

  • Change in habits or behaviors (sleeping, eating, exercising, working, recreating, social interacting)

  • Addictions (sex, gambling, food, alcohol, drugs)

The 3 stages of  the trauma recovery model you will be taught are:

    1. Coping – this stage involves the mental, emotional and behavioral reactions (automated, subconscious) and                                   responses (planned, conscious) used to manage current circumstances. These may be ongoing or                                   single moment situations.

    2. Transition – once the coping mechanisms are in place and the circumstances have either stabilized, are

passing or have reduced in intensity, it’s time to observe and begin to understand and manage                                        what has come up and/or transpired emotionally, mentally and behaviorally.

    3. Thriving – this takes place when the traumatic event or circumstances are either no longer traumatic or

have passed. It’s time to integrate the experiences, pull from them the seeds of discovery, growth                                   and new opportunity. It’s essential to move beyond surviving and fear, and into thriving, safety,

                           confidence and recovery.

Individual Guidance and Support

In addition to the training and education above, each individual will be offered private and confidential support session using an EAP (employee Assistance Program) contract model.

This individual support model includes:

  • Up to three 60-minute confidential phone or video sessions, to be utilized within the specified contracted  period of time.

  • Back to work and reintegration support as necessary.

  • Ongoing private support if requested.

The experience and handling of trauma is as distinctive to each individual as is the process of recovery. This process, the trauma response, will look quite different for every unique individual. It’s common to want to alleviate people’s discomfort and pain. However, it’s essential in order to re-stabilize and re-order our selves and our world, that we go through the recovery process and not around it.

An effective and successful outcome is necessary for each individual, the team and the organization. In order to achieve an optimal and successful outcome, the following steps are necessary:

  • Skilled expertise

  • Structured leadership and team education

  • Planned intervention

  • Individualized support
