A friend of mine once said, “As the saying goes, ‘when one door closes, another opens’, but no one tells you the hallways suck!” It took a moment to pull myself together after laughing out loud when I realized how accurate that statement is.
The closing of a door, when something ends you didn’t necessarily want to come to an end, is hard and sometimes traumatic. What’s even harder is being in limbo, floating in the in-between – the hallway – waiting for the next door to open. For so many of us who’ve been taught its effort and control that makes things happen, practicing patience and persevering in anticipation of the next door opening (because it always does) can be excruciating.
Perhaps that’s what faith is: believing you’re being guided every step of your journey; trusting the right thing, the next big thing is just ahead; knowing you are enough, you are worthy simply because you exist.
Nurture grace as you navigate the hallways of life.
